Stabilizer

The Stabilizer uses so-called biofeedback. This means that the device provides information about what is happening in the body at that moment. Other examples of biofeedback include a heart rate monitor or a myofeedback device.

The Stabilizer is a device that strikingly resembles a blood pressure monitor. It is used especially in people with neck or back symptoms and is intended to train the stabilizing muscles in these regions.

How does the Stabilizer work?

The Stabilizer works as follows: the cushion is inflated with a small pump. The pressure in the cushion can be read on the gauge attached to the pump. The needle on the gauge moves when the cushion is inflated further or pressed on.

Using the Stabilizer

Lying on the back, the cushion is, for example, placed at the level of the lower back. The patient is then asked to perform some exercises or movements. The instruction is to reach or maintain a certain value on the pressure gauge. This is usually done with relatively little force so that the large surrounding muscles do not immediately take over the task of the stabilizing muscles. In this way, it is possible to train certain muscles consciously.
